Nice set of brick red rose Baryte crystals. The laregest "rose" is 7cm across. The place is closed to collecting.
This occurence is one of the more unique localities for the oddities of mineral world. Here barium mineralization penetrated the Permian Garber Sandstone along fractures sets and formed rose-like clusters of Baryte (Barite) crystals. Individual crystals form saucer shaped crystals with sand inclucions from the the Graber Sandstone. Trace Hematite imparts the red coloration. This specimen is from Dr. David London's collection, who wrote a thorough article on this occurence in the July/August 2008 issue of the Mineralogical Record.

This specimen is from Dr. David London's collection. London wrote a fine article on this occurence in the July/August 2008 issue of the Mineralogical Record. This specimen features a string or chain of four Baryte roses each from 4.5 to 6cm wide. Excellent specimen from this unique occurence. London photographed this specimen for his article on page 278.

This occurence is one of the more unique localities for the oddities of mineral world. A premium specimen of this rare American treasure. This is a pair of brick red tabular crystals. The lower rose measures 8.5cm. This specimen was collected by Dr. David London, and was photographed in his article in the Mineralogical Record. Exceptional specimen.

An American Classic mineral locality: Baryte rose from Dr. David London's collection. London wrote a great article on this occurence in the July/August 2008 issue of the Mineralogical Record. This specimen features a cluster of three Baryte roses each 6cm wide. Excellent specimen from this unique occurence.

Hematite crystals are known for their variety of habits. On this specimen the entire black area is covered with discoidal rosettes of flashy black rosettes of Hematite to 4mm. Groups of rectangular creamy white Baryte crystals to 6mm cover the parts of the Hematite in small areas. Encroaching in from the left side are brownish Calcite crystals which cover half of the backside. It's a large specimen, fit for the cabinet to round out your sweet English suite. Two hand-written labels can be seen in the provenance tab.
