Cleaved mass of glassy, vitreous or greasy, translucent Triphylite. It looks rather pure and unaltered. Triphylite is the primary phase which is very susceptible to hydrothermal oxidation and is the host for most of the secondary phosphates from the Tip Top and many other pegmatites.
