This specimen photographed well. Cuprite has an amazing ability to look cherry red under the right lights and a digital camera. Having said that, the crystals are actually deep red, but in hand, without good light it looks almost blackened. These are excellent octahedral crystals measuring up to 5mm and some display skeletal growth. There is a part of an "old" label with this specimen which clearly shows the locality to be Cornwall. Ther is nothing more specific however.
