Pure white spherical aggretates of fine bladed Hydromagnesite crystals lining 3-5mm open veinletts in matrix.

The Staten Island Serpentinite is a late Paleozoic Serpentinite composed mostly of Antigorite, Chrysotile, and Lizardite with veins of secondary carbonates like Hydromagnesite and Artinite. This formation is the altered remains of an ancient proto-Atlantic oceanic floor that was incorporated into the collision zone between Laurentia and Gondwanaland some 500-480 million years ago.
