SiO2 (RRUFF)
Locality
Göschenen Valley, Uri, Switzerland

This is a large, old-time specimen with a University of Chicago label from 1963. You can see the label in the provenance tab. There is also a faded glued on inked label on the back of the specimen.

The photos are poor. It was an impossible subject and the color of the smoky Quartz crystals were difficult to capture. The largest crystal is doubly terminated, is a deep smoky brown color and is 5.5cm long. There are several smaller crystals, some are broken off. It is a good example of display quality Alpine Cleft mineralization of smoky Quartz on granite from this world renowned locality.
