Ore specimen of Bornite with Pyrite. Butte, of course, being one of the largest Copper producing mines in the world. It is no longer in operation.
Bornite carries up to 63% copper. It is a copper red when fresh, but quickly tarnishes to a dark purplish black and often iridescent.
