Curetonite is named in honor Forrest Cureton II (1932-2020) and his son Michael E. Cureton (1960 -). I first met Forrest in Pollock Pines, California in 1997 at the NCMA, when I traded Sincosite for rare minerals from Nevada. Forrest and his wife, Barbara, had a robust mineral dealership, The Cureton Mineral Company, for many years and later sold out to Tony Nikischer of Excalibur minerals. You can hardly view a rare mineral collection and not see many of the minerals with his old labels. Forrest was still field collecting a year or two before his death at 82. I encourage you to read more about Forrest in the Mineralogical Record label archive.
