Beryl contains about 14% beryllium oxide and is usually found in granite pegmatites. Beryllium is one of the lightest of all metals and has one of the highest melting points. Much of the beryllium produced is used in beryllium copper alloys used in springs, electrical contacts, spot-welding electrodes, and in aero-space applications.
