Chunk of ore from this famous historic mine. Bornite is an interesting mineral in that when left exposed to the atmosphere it tarnishes to a bluish tint. However when freshly broken it has a brassy or goldish color to it and within a few days it tarnishes to a purple tint.

This specimen is a fresh piece from a larger specimen and has that purple tint as seen in the photos.
