This is an old specimen from a mine which still produces well over 170 million pounds of Copper annually.  The mine was discovered in 1882 and put into operation in 1907 and still contains one of the largest Copper reserves in the world. The primary Copper ore is Chalcopyrite. This specimen was a gift to Arnold Hampson in 1968 by Troy Vaughn. The Cuprite is cherry red as small 1-2mm crystals.
