Divergent black, silvery crystals in a group to 4cm. An excellent specimen for anyone's collection of ore minerals.

Pyrolusite is the most important ore of Manganese and contains 63.2% Mn. It is used in steel as it improves rolling and forging qualities, while giving steel strength, stiffness, wear resistance, and hardness. It is also used in dry cell bateries and as a decolorizer in glass.
