A large cleaved crystal of Spodumene, an important or of lithium, found chiefly in fractionated pegmatites. The Harding mine was known for large masses of Spodumene. It was a primary ore of lithium along with a host of other lithium minerals from pegmatities. In recent years lithium has been extracted from low grade lithium salt basins in Nevada.
