I was unaware that Chalcanthite can form crystals of this size and form in the natural setting. Of course you can find synthetic Chalcanthite on Ebay, which were all lab grown.

I can certify that this specimen was indeed self-collected by Robert Waidler in 1980. Now, I'm not sure though in what part of the mine it was found. Perhaps it was found as a by-product in a settling pond or in dormant benches rich in soluble copper sulfate. Looking at it closely it has attached sand particles. The crystals are fantastic and large and almost perfect. The largest crystal is 2.5cm.
