There was a time in the distant past, when there was only one type of Jahnsite. There was no qualification to get into the Jahnsite club. These days there many Jahnsites, like the shrimp dishes in Forrest Gump. You never know what you'll get in a box of Jahnsite. You can look on Mindat for the types. Many of them occur at the Tip Top. We discovered a new one several years ago. This Jahnsite is the original, described by Paul Moore in the 1960's. It is a funny nut brown and striated. These are distinct, nice crystals to 4mm long, which is long for Jahnsite-(CaMnMg). The matrix is Quartz.
