Locality
La Fossa crater, Vulcano Island, Messina prov., Sicily, Italy

Lafossaite is a sublimation product of fumarolic gases at volcanoes such as this locality. It is a halide of Thallium and highly toxic and radioactive. The crystals occur as tiny tiny yellow cubes.

Note: Poisonous and soluble in water. Do not let your mineral buddy slip it in your drink.

Of special note: Thermessaite is very toxic and can kill you if eaten. It dissolves in water. So be aware of someone who wants you to look very close at their Thermessaite. As Google puts it:

"THALLIUM sulphate is a colourless, tasteless salt that you can dissolve in water and give to someone you wish to hurt or kill. It is not a perfect poison, but it comes close."

In other words: geologists, don't lick it.
