A beautiful, large, cleavable mass of rich indigo purple Covellite. Excellent specimen. 11 oz

Butte covellite is arguably the finest when crystallized. Large masses to 1 meter were reported in historic mining days. Covellite can easily be identified visually. However a fun test is to moisten a bit of blue covellite with your saliva. The blue will turn to an indigo purple. Covellite contains up to 66% copper and is a supergene enrichment product although has been found to be of hydrothermal origin also.
