Named after Alfred Harker, a British petrologist at Cambridge University in England. Harkerite is a rare mineral that can be found I localities in Scotland, Russia, Italy, Sweden, and newer localities in China, Kazakhstan, Namibia, and the United States. It occurs in ejects from volcanoes and in skarns within dolomitic limestones that are in contact with granites.
