All of the crystals on this specimen form spinel-law twins. And looking closely at the crystals you will see all the incredible patterns on the faces probaly formed by stepped growth. The specimen sparkles nicely as you hold and rotate it. Very nice specimen, which is not your ordinary Galena specimen.

The specimen was collected by Dr. David London, the author of the great book "Pegmatites". This specimen is sawed and polished on one side to show the salmon-colored pods of Lithiophilite, a primary phosphate which forms early in the pegmatite genesis. In the photos, are thin fractures healed by green Dickinsonite. The black areas are Robertsite. Lithiophilite is an ore of lithium.
