Here is another specimen collected by the late Arnold Hampson. This guy was incredible and collected throughout the East coast, Midwest and Western States. Take a minute and read about Hampson's life of mineral collecting here. This specimen was collected on his western States tour is a nice ore mineral from the little known Holland mine in Arizona. Some of the areas on this specimen show a light green fibers of Tremolite (or other amphibole) indicating a total flood of sulfides engulfing the country rock in which it mineralized.

The Chalcopyrite is the typical golden color distinguishing it from Pyrite. Most of the matrix however is Galena.

Black anhedral grains of Chromite to 2mm. Chromium crystals are very rare. Chromium is a silvery white extremely hard metal Moh's - 9, while Chromite has a hardness of 5.5. It is used in the metallurgical industry to enhance hardness and resistance to corrosion.

This specimen can be described as typical rich copper ore. The veins are 3 to 4cm thick with Chrysocolla. Most of what you can see in the photos is Cuprite with areas red chalcotrichite, a variety of Cuprite. In the second photo, you can easily see native Copper.
