Bauxite is the primary ore of aluminum. It is a mixture of two to three minerals including Diaspore, Bibbsite, and or Boehmite.  Bauxite is a secondary product resulting from the weathering, leaching, and alteration of aluminous rocks and minerals. Aluminum is the 3rd most abundant element in the Earth's crust.

This specimen consist of Diaspor and Boehmite, which has a pisolitic habit (rounded concreations).

This specimen was collected by Arnold Hampson circa 1950's. I could not find the locality on Mindat. It is a chunk of metallic bluish grey to purple. Bornite is a sulfide or copper and iron and contains about 63% Cu and thus an important ore.

Chalcocite has a very distinct color when fresh. This is a split and thus the fresh color can be seen as a dull grey. When scratched with a knife, Chalcocite will show some sectility and is a little softer than Bornite. It is, also, not as brittle as Bornite. This is best seen under the microscope. When massive, like this specimen, a conchoidal fracture can be seen. The vein here is nearly 2cm thick. Chalcocite contains more copper than Bornite coming in at almost 80% and thus a major ore of copper.
