Extremely rich specimen full of snow white acicular sprays. Although this is Churchite-(Y), there is often samarium substitution in the structure. So included with the specimen is a small vial of samarium oxide concentrate with the mineral.

Black vitreous or "pitchy-lustered" grains of Davidite to 1.4cm. Very rich specimen. The Davidite is metamict and was formed in a transitional contact zone between a metaspessartine dike and a quartz monzonite (Mineralogy of Arizona, Anthony et al).

Davidite contains the rare earth elements lanthanum, cerium, and yittrium. Lanthanum, discovered in 1839, was first used in gas lantern mantles. Coleman still uses it in their mantles. Massive quantities of lanthanum is required for the production in hybrid automobiles. A typical battery used in a Toyota Prius requires 22-33 lbs of lanthanum.

A black vitreous mass of Davidite. Davidite may contain some cerium and yttrium, and uranium which destroys its crystal structure. Thus, the Davidite is metamict. Primary uses for lanthanum include specialty glasses and optics, electrodes and hydrogen storage.

A pure mass of Euxenite with a slight crust. The fresh surface shows a good vitreous luster, almost sub-metallic and an obsidian appearance. It is heavy since it contains uranium, thorium, niobium, and tantalum. It may also contain cerium.

This locality is a NYF pegmatite which usually contain fluorite, niobium and yttrium. Yttrium was named for it's type locality Ytterby, Sweden.
