Burbankite is a rare earth mineral from the Vermiculite Prospects at the head of Big Sandy Creek in southeastern Hill Co., Montana. The mineral deposits occur in mafic monzonite, syenite and "shonkinite", a dark-colored syenite composed chiefly of augite and alkali feldspar, and possibly containing olivine, hornblende, biotite, and nepheline.

The Burbankite on this specimen include tiny less than 1mm pale to honey colored hexagonal prisms. It's hard to tell, but there maybe some plates of Calkinsite in spongy creamy parts of the specimen. Ancylite may also be present. In association are Aegerine crystals, limonite after Pyrite, and Sanadine (white). Burbankite crystals up to 3cm were found at the mine.
