Green layers of fuchsite in schist matrix. This variety of Muscovite contains chromium which replaces the aluminum in the crystal structure. Chromium imparts the green color in fuchsite, but is not the cause of green in other phyllosilicates such as Chamosite or Clinochlore.

Phlogopite is classified as an ordinary (True or Common) Mica - Trioctahderal with Mg at the (M) positions, K as (I), and OH as (A). Mg end member of Biotite-Phlogopite series.
