Native Copper deeply tarnished in gangue of Kaoline and siltstone. Masses of Copper up to 500 pounds are recorded from the Cashin mine. The Cashin mine was discovered in 1896 and is located in the La Sal mining district of Paradox Valley close to La Sal creek.

The specimen dates back to 1968, when it was obtained by Hampson. The specimen contains nothing but Covellite in 2cm thin plates in no particular orientation.

Covellite occurs in the zone of secondary enrichment. It is actually rare in most Colorado districts. At Summitville, it is the most abundant secondary copper minerals. Reports show that solid masses up to 6 inches thick were found in the Golconda vein.

Distinct and well-formed Enargite crystals straited parallel to the prism axis. The crystals show good metallic luster. The Enargite crystals reach 4mm and most occur with the pocket at the center of the specimen.

A good representative specimen from this mice, which has produced larger and better crystals. These crystals are good, just small on the order of less than 0.75mm in a 20 x 8mm area.
