I have had the good fortune of collecting on the Almaden stockpile. The mercury vapor emanating from my luggage set off alarms. I was sentenced to a year of hard labor breaking cinnabar boulders.

The Londonderry Lithium deposit is a pegmatite, which according to Mindat is now used for road gravel. Too bad...

Scattered but fairly rich coverage of this rare vanadium-tin sulfide. Crystal grains to about 4mm. 1 lb 2oz. Butte is the type locaity for Colusite. It was first found at Butte on the 1200-foot level of the Leonard mine, and then the West Colusa, Tramway, and Mountain View mines. Though it carries tin, the mineral was mined for its copper content.

A nice ore specimen with long embedded Enargite crystals to 5cm. Enargite was widespread in the Butte mines. Enargite, a copper arsenic sulfide, is an important ore of copper, when found in large quantites since the arsenic content is a liability. Enargite accounted for 25-40% of Butte's copper production.

Green Fluorite in a large core specimen, something you don't usually see.

Fluorite is used in the production of hydrogen fluoride acid needed for the production of synthetic cryolite required for the production of metallic aluminum. It is also used in the manufacture of ceramics, fluoro-chemicals, and as a fluxing agent.
