Black Hills Ghost Town & Ghost Mine Maps
by Dale Baiety
Each 2 disk CD set covers either the Northern or Southern. The east to west map coverage spans from east of Rapid City to the Wyoming border. The Northern Hills set covers from north of Spearfish, SD, to Mt. Rushmore/Keystone, SD. The Southern Hills set covers from Mt. Rushmore/Keystone, SD to near the South Dakota/Nebraska border.
If both Northern & Southern Hills sets are purchased, the complete 4 disk CD series contains aerial photo images & topographical maps of the entire Black Hills of South Dakota. 365,420 aerial photo images create a seamless mosaic that zooms from 64-meter to 1-meter resolution. 27.760 topographical map segments allow zooming from 32-meter to 4-meter resolution. The cursor shows latitude/longitude information for any location. Waypoint overlays identify 386 Black Hills ghost/historic towns and 999 Black Hills ghost mines.
A GPS is not needed to use the maps, but if the user does have a GPS, the included USAPhotoMaps program allows transfer of data in/out of Windows based computers. A laptop computer will supply real time on screen tracking of most GPS units. A Windows computer system with 1.2 Gig of hard drive space is required to install each 2 disk CD set on your computer.

Mineralogy of the Black Hills
by Willard L. Roberts & George Rapp, Jr.
Hardcover. Condition - used but as good as New. 1965. Out-of-Print.
Written by Willard Roberts, at the time a research associate at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and later curator of mineralogy and then director of the Museum of Geology at the school, and George Rapp, Jr., curator of mineralogy at the Museum of Geology and an associate professor of mineralogy at the time the book was published, Mineralogy of the Black Hills sought to update and refine the previous two works that attempted to detail the extensive mineral population of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Mineralogy of the Black Hills accounts for more than 280 minerals found in the Black Hills and includes a brief listing of these minerals by Dana type and an in depth alphabetical listing that details the crystallography, habit, and appearance of these minerals as well as the locations in which these minerals can be found in the Black Hills.
Mineralogy of the Black Hills is available in limited quantities.
