Black Hills Ghost Town & Ghost Mine Maps
by Dale Baiety
Each 2 disk CD set covers either the Northern or Southern. The east to west map coverage spans from east of Rapid City to the Wyoming border. The Northern Hills set covers from north of Spearfish, SD, to Mt. Rushmore/Keystone, SD. The Southern Hills set covers from Mt. Rushmore/Keystone, SD to near the South Dakota/Nebraska border.
If both Northern & Southern Hills sets are purchased, the complete 4 disk CD series contains aerial photo images & topographical maps of the entire Black Hills of South Dakota. 365,420 aerial photo images create a seamless mosaic that zooms from 64-meter to 1-meter resolution. 27.760 topographical map segments allow zooming from 32-meter to 4-meter resolution. The cursor shows latitude/longitude information for any location. Waypoint overlays identify 386 Black Hills ghost/historic towns and 999 Black Hills ghost mines.

Geology of the Region Around Lead, South Dakota, and its Bearing on the Homestake Ore Body
By Sidney Page
Spiral-Bound, Department of the Interior, Hubert Work, Secretary, US Geological Survey, George Otis Smith, Director, Washington Government Printing Office 1924 reprint
The results of the first systematic geologic investigation of the Homestake mine were published in 1904, however this investigation did not include the deeper workings of the Homestake mine. In 1912, permission was granted for Sidney Paige to discover evidence in support of new hypothesis regarding the origin of the ore. It is much desired that at some future date a more detailed investigation of this mine, perhaps the greatest gold mine in the world, be obtained and published.
Geology of the Region Around Lead, South Dakota, and its Bearing on the Homestake Ore Body is available in limited quantities.
