Ore specimen of Bornite with Pyrite. Butte, of course, being one of the largest Copper producing mines in the world. It is no longer in operation.
Bornite carries up to 63% copper. It is a copper red when fresh, but quickly tarnishes to a dark purplish black and often iridescent.

Honey yellow nail-head crystals in nice grouping on limestone matrix. The largest crystal is 4.5cm and is doubly terminated. This is a long time favorite locality of many collectors.
