The old hand-written label claims that there is Gold in this specimen. I really don't agree with that unless it is super small. It is cut and polished on one side, which may have brought out the allusion of Gold. I think it is just Pyrite as it is brittle and much harder than Gold. The rest of the specimen is indeed composed of dark black and sectile Petzite.

Basically an ore grade specimen from a remote & historic locality in Nevada. The Pyrargyrite occurs as a silvery mass throughout the specimen. With the aid of a microscope, a scratch shows a cherry red color. See prov. tab for old label.
