Tiny, less than 1mm, acicular crystals in vug. Very nice micro specimen. The old Dr. David H. Garske label states that the Lavenite is an epitaxial overgrowth of Wohlerite. That is hard to see at this tiny scale. It is associated with sharp, colorless Pyroxene crystals seen in the photo. Lavenite is a member of the Wohlerite group.

Type Locality

This mine was discovered in 1549 as, I assume, a Silver mine and then operated intermittently over the years through 1940. The products were Silver, Arsenic and Cobalt. It is type locality for eight species and several white and pink fuzzy crystals. This specimen isn't fuzzy, but prismatic and porcelain-looking. The crystals measure just about 1mm.
