Noonkanbahite is a relatively new IMA mineral described in 2009 from this locality by Dr. Igor Pekov, one of the others. It is a sodium-titanium silicate and at this locality forms yellowish brown bladed crystals to 5mm in an aegerine matrix.

This specimen is from Pekov and can be considered "author's material".

Sold
Size
4 x 2 x 1.5 cm - Miniature

Type Locality

Deep, deep red short prismatic-tabular crystals in a 1mm cluster. There are four or five individual crystals in the cluster. The matrix is granular Siderite with a little Quartz and minor sulfides. Olmsteadite has been thus far found only in the Black Hills at three pegmatites: The White Cap mine, the Hesnard mine, and the Big Chief mine. The Big Chief is the type locality. Curiously enough all three are in the Keystone district and fairly close to each other. It forms presumably in the presence of Columbite.
