Dark bluish-green bladed crystals in thick divergent groups. Interesting mineral in that it looks fibrous, but the crystals are very brittle. Gormanite like other phosphates of Rapid & Big Creek are low-temperature fracture filling deposits.

Several pink spheroidal groups consisting of Kutnohorite crystals from 1 to 1.3cm across. The matrix is comprised of mostly 1 to 5mm Pyritte crystals, Quartz, and rounded plates of Marcasite. It was acquired by Barbara Cureton and originally from the Sakurai collection.

The true color is that of the first, main photo, which is a nice apple green. The largest crystals are 1cm across and show good forms on the {100} and {110}. To see these forms you will have to tilt the specimen back and forth. The faces show perfect cleavage on the {001}. All the phosphates from this area are phosphorites meaning they have formed in a sedimeitary environment (usually black shales). The matrix on this piece is shale.
