This specimen is only a portion of a much larger specimen. It has only a few flat places, which I assume are crystals faces. In the Black Hills of Dakota, pieces like these are considered to be primary apatite. I assume this is the case in Maine. I always like these specimens as they are actually hard to find at the pegamites, at least here in the Black Hills. I love the dark blue nature and the greasy or vitreous luster. It was acquired by Hampson in 1955.

These suckers are always hard to photo for me as the lighting never the captures the true golden brown color of the Fluorite from this locality. Some have excellent iridescents, this one does not. Nonethelss, there are large nicely formed crystals to 15mm.

It was acquired by Hampson in 1945.
