Very nice acicular crystals of Owyheeite, some with a slight curvature down the length of the crystal. The longest seems to be over 1mm and some of the crystals are altered to a white substance, but most are the typical grey. The pink are rhombic crystals of Rhodocrosite. Across most of the specimen are black or dark grey formless crystals of which are probably another silver mineral, perhaps Pyrargyrite, as some red reflections can be seen, Nice piece.

This is one of the better Owyheeite specimens I have seen. I am sure there are better ones in private collections. This piece contains filliform silvery crystals draped over and free-standing on clear Quartz. The coverage is over an area of 2x1cm.

I didn't know how good this specimen was until I looked at it under the scope. Virtually all the dark areas on the main face is Owyheeite. The crystals are iridescent red and are tiny acicular. Great specimen of this rather rare silver sulfide.
