Nice cluster of frosted amethyst with crystals to 8mm. Hampson gives the locality as "Homestake mine" of the Creede district. I find no reports of a Homesake mine in Creede district. It is associated with platy Baryte on the backside, this may provide a clue to the localtiy.

If you are into Quartz and Japan law twins, consider this specimen. The Quartz crystals are to 4mm and are perfect with at least three good Japan-law twins. It was difficult to photo the other twins, but they are much like the one shown in the second photo.

If you buy this specimen, look it over very carefully. In fact have a manhattan first. You will see all sorts of things: colors (colorless to purple and smoky), forms, skeletal growth, striations, an alien Quartz crystals at the core, and inclusions. It's a fine specimen from the collection of the late Chris van Laer. Chris was an expert on the miarolitic cavities of the Idaho Batholith.
