- XRD Confirmed
Large chunck with dark coppery or black massive Paramelaconite. The specimen comes with one of Paul Moore's label with the specimen number correspnding to the tag (see prov tab). Specimen has been analyzed by XRD as noted on label. Of course this doesn't compare to the excellent find by Shawn Carlson in 2003(?) when his group found superb crystals in the old workings.

- thallium
Silvery crystal grains to 1-2mm throughout this silicoues matrix colored black by organic matter. There may be a relation between the thallium minerals and the black organic matter. A handy short reference on this deposit can be found here (click). There are probably other thallium minerals in this specimen but identifying them is difficult and requires thin section work and/or EDS.
