Bright Orange octahedral crystal with cubic faces to nearly 2mm on shiny black Ilvaite crystals with waterclear Fluorite and possible brown feathery Rhodochrosite. Natanite is a rare oxide of tin and found in less than 15 places worldwide. There are no US localities. Of course there are no economic deposits of tin in the US either, so not a whole lot of occurences of tin mineralization.

This rare sodium titanium silicate is found only in pegmatites of the Kola peninsula. The crystals are embedded in the matrix as 1mm grains which fluoresce a nice bright blue color. Without the aid of UV these grains are hard to distinguish from the rest of the alkaline matrix.
