Blue Calcite with white, silky-looking (it's not soft) Wollastonite with blue Calcite from the Blue Sky Limestone Formation of the Crestmore mine in California. This locality is special as it is a giant skarn and has pegmatite dikes all of which has yielded 165 valid species according to Mindat.org. Wollastonite is a typical skarn mineral. I have much more of this material and will probably have another Crestmore, Special Edition in the far future.
Underneath the specimen is a layer of white marble in which the Wollastonite is adjacent to which then yields to the blue calcite. All about the specimen are neat little Graphite crystals. The specimen was collected in 1969 by the late Fred DeVito.
