A great study specimen from a famous Carbonatite deposit mined prior to the 1960's when it was closed. The specimen consists of mostly Calcite in large cleavable masses. At the center is a large crystalline mass of brown Monticellite. Around the Monticellite is a silky looking, light yellow mineral which looks like Sillimanite, although I have not seen it in this environment. All throughout the mass are are shiny black octahedral crystals of Perovskite to 6mm (shown). Excellent specimen originally from the Dr. Al Kidwell collection who acquired it from Joe Kimzey himself in 1966!! See prov. tabe for this information.
