- Big Fish River, Dawson dist., Yukon Territory, Canada
- SmCabinet 9x2.5x3.5cm
The specimen represents a good example of mineralized Quartz veining with open spaces. The Quartz crystals have grown inward, perpendicular to the walls of the vein. The vein is mineralized with phosphate, in this case Baricite, a Mn-Fe phosphate. Baricite was first found at this locality and has since been found in only another four localities worldwide. It is the magnesium analog of Vivianite. The Baricite in this specimen is a metallic blue with lamellar crystals to 2.5cm.
