This is a really neat specimen of banded Rhyolite with 2-5mm seams of platy blue crystalline Bornite. This piece actually gave us the idea for an Ore Specimen Special Edition and is just a really interesting piece!
Unfortunately I couldn't find any good resources on this particular mine, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere and I'd definitely be interested in the geologic processes that formed a mineralized banded Rhyolite like thi

Both the sawed and polished side and the rough side of this specimen clearly show the number of sulfides in this specimen. As William Petruk classified Cobalt ores in "The Silver-Arsenide Deposits of the Cobalt-Gowganda Region, Ontario", this specimen would likely fit into his group number 3, the Co-As assemblage. This group occurs in the main part of most veins and is characterized by large amounts of cobalt arsenides and also carry Chalcopyrite, Tetrahedrite and Arsenopyrite. This specimen as well as the others in this Special Edition are likely from the research used in the previously mentioned publication. This is an example of the ore from Cobalt.
