Price
$145.00
Size
6.5 x 5 x 3.5 cm - Sm Cabinet

Good coverage of colorless to white, 1-2mm, pseudohexagonal dipyramids showing horizonatal striations. These crystals are perfectly formed and euhedral. Alstonite is the dimorph of barytocalcite. and also paralstonite. Swap Ca and Ba in the formula and you have Barytocalcite. Drop calcium all together and you get Witherite, which forms the bulk of this specimen. The Alsonite crystallization follows natural voids between Witherite crystals. The Witherite occurs as discoidal crystals to 1.3cm, but there are just a few of these. The rest of the Witherite are large anhedral forms seemingly deformed by etching. Cool specimen. It is similair to the Witherite pictured on Mindat from this locality. Note that Alstonite looks like it occurs on that one too if you look closely.

This is a simple yet incredible specimen of crystallized Copper in classic arborescent growth habit. I truly thought this was a glue job when I first saw it. But upon close inspection it is most certainly NOT. There are several contact points where the Copper protrudes and penetrates the Calcite matrix. There is one Calcite crystal with corner modifications which also demonstrate it is not etched away from matrix. This is a free-forming crystal group which developed within a pocket. The main Copper group is 2cm long.

Call this the mini-Aztec Sun...the largest radial group is over 1.5cm wide. This is a very aesthetic specimen with superb radial groups shooting up through the center line of matrix. It sits well, naturally, on three sides. Excellent showy specimen you don't need a microscope to admire.
