Type Locality

Almeidaite is a five-locality mineral first found at this locality, the Mula claim in Novo Horizonte.  It is a member of the Crichtonite group said to include thirteen complex titanites often containing uranium, lead and rare earth elements such as yttrium, cerium, lanthanum. It is formed from hydrothermaly altered dacites in the presence of rutile and hematite. It is often confused with ilmenite and hematite. Simple physical tests will distinguish theses minerals from Almeidaite however.

4 x 4.5 x 3.0 cm - Miniature

Baryte from South Dakota is the world's finest. I am, of course, biased living here in South Dakota. This crystal is 3.3cm nearly flawless crystal on a bit of matrix. The termination is ever slightly frosted and the color is a rich root beer color, which have made these Barytes so desirable.
