Both the sawed and polished side and the rough side of this specimen clearly show the number of sulfides in this specimen. As William Petruk classified Cobalt ores in "The Silver-Arsenide Deposits of the Cobalt-Gowganda Region, Ontario", this specimen would likely fit into his group number 3, the Co-As assemblage. This group occurs in the main part of most veins and is characterized by large amounts of cobalt arsenides and also carry Chalcopyrite, Tetrahedrite and Arsenopyrite. This specimen as well as the others in this Special Edition are likely from the research used in the previously mentioned publication. This is an example of the ore from Cobalt.

At first glance this looks like a grungy specimen. This specimen is actually quite nice with a large crystal of Chalcopyrite to 1.5cm which is coated probably by Chalcocite or Bornite. You can tell it's Chalcopyrite by its crystal form and the base exposes the golden color of Chalcopyrite. It's a nice pocket specimen with good needle Quartz crystals also.
