Långbanite #23809
Långban, Filipstad, Värmland, Sweden
Micro crystals of Långbanite to 0.50 mm.
Type Locality
Size: Chip <1cm

There are at least 2 micro crystals on this small piece of 1cm matrix. Each is fairly well exposed and distinct as shown in the photos. According to Bollmark et al "Langban", the authoritative book on the locality, Langbanite was discovered in 1878 by Sjogren, but was not completely described until 1887 by Flink. Specimens have been found on the dumps in recent times. Langbanite is a rare Mn-Sb silicate found in only a few places worldwide. It graces the cover of the book "Langban" where you can see the obvious pseudo-hexagonal habit.
